Nordic conference: Future Teachers – A Profession at Crossroads

As a part of the Education Programme for the Icelandic Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2014 a conference on the Professional Development of Teachers will be held in Reykjavik on 13 – 14 August 2014. It is organized by The Icelandic council of Continous Professional Development of Teachers (>>> info).

The objective is to encourage and advance Nordic collaboration on Continuous Professional Development of Teachers at every level of public education, from pre-school and compulsory school to upper secondary education. The conference will compare the professional education and working conditions of teachers in an international context and focus on preferred methods of professional development in a Nordic context. Potential Nordic collaboration in the field will also be considered.

The conference will be organized around keynote speeches, exchange of best practice, dialogue and teamwork. The working language will be English.

Andy Hargreaves. Professor at Lynch School of Education, Boston College:
            “Professional Capital in Teaching. How to build it, invest in it and circulate it”

Sigrún Aðalbjarnardóttir.  Professor at the University of Iceland, School of Education:
             “Teacher Passion and Purpose: The Opportunities and Challenges in Education for
              Democratic Citizenship”

Pasi Sahlberg. Professor Harvard Graduate School of Education:
              “True Facts and Tales about Teachers and Teaching: A Nordic Point of View”

 


 

Nordisk konference: Fremtidens lærere – en profession ved en korsvej

Island har formandskabet i Nordisk Ministerråd i 2014. Som et led i formandskabets sektorprogram på uddannelsesområdet er lærernes faglige udvikling valgt som tema for en konference, der afholdes i Reykjavik i dagene 13. og 14. august 2014. Konferencen er organiseret af Islands råd om lærernes professionelle udvikling (>>> info).

Målet er at opmuntre til og fremme et nordisk samarbejde om en løbende faglig udvikling af lærerne på samtlige skoletrin fra børnehave og folkeskole til ungdomsuddannelserne. På konferencen vil man sammenligne lærernes uddannelse og arbejdsvilkår i en international kontekst med særlig fokus på de metoder, som de nordiske lande har foretrukket til faglig udvikling. Mulighederne for et øget nordisk samarbejde på området vil også blive drøftet.

Konferencen består af foredrag, udveksling af best practice, dialog og gruppearbejde. Programmet bygger til dels på Biophilia-modellen, hvor forskning og teori blandes med kreativitet og nye trends inden for informationsteknologi. Arbejdssproget vil være engelsk.
